What Is Sexual Assault in Canada?
Sexual assault occurs when a person touches another in a sexual manner without consent, or coerces sexual activity. Consent must be freely given, informed, and ongoing.
Canadian law recognizes sexual assault in three levels:
- Level 1: Simple sexual assault — touching without consent for a sexual purpose
